CAISSE SPECULATION HEATS UP

Published: 12 March 2009

Bertrand, 54, announced he's leaving his job as deputy CEO of the TMX Group and CEO of the Montreal Exchange on June 30, saying "it is time to move on to other challenges." Karl Moore, senior professor at McGill University's Desautels School of Management, said Bertrand has the securities industry experience, the knowledge of derivatives trading and risk management as well as the maturity and leadership skills to succeed. "He's financially independent and he's probably looking for a top-level challenge and an opportunity to serve the province," Moore added. "Though Ontario-born, he's spent most of his career in Quebec."
