A BUMPY ROAD TO RECOVERY

Harvard professor Michael Porter is one of the world's most influential management professors, and has been instrumental in developing ideas that enable companies and governments to become more economically competitive. His theories have been adopted by businesses and political jurisdictions around the world, including Quebec and Canada. Porter visited Montreal last month to receive an honorary doctorate from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University. While there, he talked with Desautels Prof. Karl Moore to discuss the recession and its implications for corporate strategies, and the future shape of the world economy. Here are excerpts from that conversation.
