Alumnus Dick Pound Backs UW in Doping Scandal; Ex-Wada President Calls Sanction a 'Good Message'

Canada's foremost expert on doping control applauds the University of Waterloo's decision to cancel the upcoming season for its football team. "From the university's perspective, it probably had no alternative," Dick Pound, former president of the World Anti-Doping Agency, said Tuesday. "It's clearly a very serious situation. To catch nine in one swatch of tests is pretty alarming. The self-imposed sanction is probably a good message (to send)."… Pound, a former chancellor at Montreal's McGill University, acknowledged it is probable other Canadian university football teams harbour drug cheats, too.
