Strategies for Supervising Graduate Student Writing
This session will introduce participants to a variety of strategies designed to move graduate students through the early stages of writing and on to the more advanced stages of editing and revising. We will consider ways to help students develop writing goals and plans, generate and organize ideas, consider readers and rhetorical strategies, and polish texts for submission. We will also discuss methods of managing the supervisory relationship: establishing and maintaining a working partnership; setting and enforcing deadlines; dealing with crises; offering useful feedback.
