Second Annual Bombardier Lecture with Joseph Nye
The Institute for European Studies, a joint venture of McGill
University and l'Université de Montréal, is pleased to announce
that Joseph Nye, Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor
and former Dean of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, will
deliver the 2011 Bombardier Lecture, the second in a series of
annual talks.
"International Governance of Emerging Markets" will take place on
March 17, at 3 p.m.
Hailed as one of America's leading foreign policy experts and
architects, Joseph Nye has twice been voted one of the 10 most
influential international relations scholars by large surveys of
his peers, and in 2008 was voted the most influential on American
foreign policy.
Recognized as one of co-founders of the international relations
theory of neoliberalism and as having coined the popular term "soft
power," Nye has published many books including his most recent,
"The Future of Power", as well as "Understanding International
Conflicts", 7th ed (2009), "The Powers to Lead (2008)", "The Power
Game: A Washington Novel (2004)", "Soft Power: The Means to Success
in World Politics (2004)", and "The Paradox of American Power
(2002)".
The Bombardier Lecture series was made possible by a donation from
Bombardier. Every year, a leading academic of the highest
international standing will be invited to share his or her
expertise on an important and timely subject regarding the nexus of
corporate, government and social issues.
The lecture series revisits many of the themes addressed in
Bombardier's corporate social responsibility report, Moving Forward
Responsibly, a compilation of recent achievements and future goals
focusing on issues such as energy-saving solutions and
carbon-neutral growth.
