Interventions to Improve the Food Environment in Baltimore City

Thursday, November 12th | 11-12:15pm

The McGill Centre for the Convergence of Health and Economics (MCCHE) invites you to particpate in our consumer behaviour webinar and discussion series. This series is part of a broader research agenda in developing a model of motivated choice and tranformative innovation for healthier lifestyles and obesity prevention and control. On November 12th, Dr. Joel Gittelsohn from the Global Obesity Prevention Centre at Johns Hopkins University will present a webinar on interventions they are using to improve the food enviornment in Baltimore City.

This webinar describes a series of intervention trials over the last decade to improve the food environment in Baltimore City.  Successful pilot trials in corner stores, carryouts and recreation centers will be described, culminating in a large multi-level trial, B’More Healthy Communities for Kids.  Funded by the Global Obesity Prevention Center, BHCK takes a systems approach to improving access and consumption of healthier foods by low income African American children.
