Doctoral candidates will receive $25,000/year in guaranteed funding for four years. Financial support for the four years is comprised of a PhD Program in Management Guaranteed Funding Award (MGFA), which includes a variety of internal sources of funding. Your MGFA may also include a McGill fellowship (to be be determined at a later date). All funding is conditional on satisfactory academic performance.
Students that receive external awards (i.e., SSHRC, CHIR, NSERC, etc.) will receive partial guaranteed funding from the supervisor/area.
If you are enrolled in a doctoral program at another university and wish to attend McGill for a limited period of time (up to a maximum of 12 months) to conduct research only, you must apply as a Graduate Research Trainee (GRT). You are encouraged to approach a faculty member who is willing to supervise your research for your duration at Desautels Faculty of Management. Once you have secured a supervisor, you will need to submit an application as a Graduate Research Trainee. A message from the Associate Dean, Research and International Relations
Management research is a form of disciplined inquiry that not only tries to shed light on challenges faced by organizations and their members, but also seeks to develop actionable knowledge for students and organizational stakeholders. Management scholars not only seek within-discipline rigour but also aim to break disciplinary boundaries in terms of relevance and teaching.
