The granddaddy of all Canadian-U.S. trade disputes is about to rear its ugly head again

A recent dispute over “country of origin labelling” for meat products underscores the fact that Canada and the U.S. still have their share of trade disputes.

... “For the first time in years, we actually see new housing starts in the United States past the one-million mark,” said William Polushin, an international business expert and lecturer at the Desautels faculty of management at McGill University.

Biography: 

Anita currently serves McGill’s Teaching & Learning Services team as Director of Operations for the Social Learning for Social Impact MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). She is also an advisor to the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation on RECODE, an initiative dedicated to fuelling social innovation & entrepreneurship in higher education across Canada in 2012-2013, she was the founding Integrating Director of McGill's Social Economy Initiative (SEI), housed in the Desautels Faculty of Management. Her mandate was to integrate social entrepreneurship and social innovation into the faculty's teaching, research and outreach activities.

Prior to this, she held the position of Director of Advancement & Alumnae Relations at The Study, a leading independent girls’ day school, located in Montreal, Canada. Her responsibilities included leading Major Giving & Planned Giving efforts for the Study School Foundation’s Endowment, elevating the school’s Annual Giving program and strengthening ties with the school’s constituents.

Anita also worked in the Development, Alumni & University Relations (DAUR) office at McGill University, heading the fundraising efforts for the Faculty of Education (2005-7) and leadership giving at the Desautels Faculty of Management (2004-5). She joined McGill after many years in the private sector where she gained a wide range of experience in corporate communications and speechwriting, new business development, strategic marketing and event planning.

McGill students’ plans to help rebuild Lac-Mégantic win praise

One year after a runaway train transporting oil plowed through the downtown core of Lac-Mégantic, igniting and razing much of the town’s commercial centre, three McGill University students with a passion for social entrepreneurship have become part of the town’s efforts to rebuild.
