Desautels Faculty of Management
Doctoral candidates will receive $25,000/year in guaranteed funding for four years. Financial support for the four years is comprised of a PhD Program in Management Guaranteed Funding Award (MGFA), which includes a variety of internal sources of funding. Your MGFA may also include a McGill fellowship (to be be determined at a later date). All funding is conditional on satisfactory academic performance.
Students that receive external awards (i.e., SSHRC, CHIR, NSERC, etc.) will receive partial guaranteed funding from the supervisor/area.
If you are enrolled in a doctoral program at another university and wish to attend McGill for a limited period of time (up to a maximum of 12 months) to conduct research only, you must apply as a Graduate Research Trainee (GRT). You are encouraged to approach a faculty member who is willing to supervise your research for your duration at Desautels Faculty of Management. The McGill PhD Program in Management provides students with a unique post-graduate educational experience that facilitates exposure to a variety of research approaches and interests, and to the combined resources of four top Montreal universities.
This collaborative program, offered in conjunction with Concordia University, École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) of the Université de Montréal, and Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), provides McGill students with access to over 250 professors and to a full array of courses taught in both English and French.
Drawing on a variety of cross-disciplinary courses, including strategy, organizational behaviour, entrepreneurship and international business, this concentration provides students with an integrated perspective on leading business issues. Students are prepared for the challenges posed by a globalizing marketplace and develop the skills valued by employers in the consulting, business development, project management, and related fields.

This 30-credit major provides students with a general understanding of the factors affecting employer-employee relations, including labour unions and laws that regulate the employment relationship. It is integral to the practice of human resource management, particularly in a unionized environment.

The objective of this concentration is to provide a general understanding of the factors affecting employer-employee relations, both at the micro-level and in relation to the socio-economic context in which they occur. Students interested in more intensive study of this area are urged to consider the major in Labour Management Relations and Human Resources.

The Organizational Behaviour concentration provides an opportunity for students to increase their awareness of behavioural issues encountered in jobs and organizational settings, and to prepare themselves for graduate study in the behavioural sciences or for careers in general management or human resource management. Students interested in more intensive study of this area are urged to consider the major in Organizational Behaviour.
