Historically, corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity was concerned with brand building, not ROI. It was the old philanthropic model: people with resources, power, and access choosing to donate or share assets. Today, brands are putting a heightened importance on creating more than just goodwill with new initiatives, and that puts chief marketing officers front and center in this new era of strategic social responsibility.
NR Narayana Murthy will receive an honorary doctorate from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University in Canada on May 28. Murthy, the co-founder of Infosys Ltd, will be acknowledged for his accomplishments in business and dedication to fairer wealth distribution.
The Desautels Faculty of Management congratulates the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) and Desautels faculty members who were recently named recipients of the 2014 Dr. Alfred N. and Lynn Manos Page Prize for Integration of Sustainability Issues in Business Curricula, for conceiving and implementing the new Managing for Sustainability Major and Concentration (MSUS) programs for Bachelor of Commerce students at McGill University.
