MONTRÉAL, 10 mars 2016 – Pour découvrir de nouvelles façons de promouvoir les légumineuses comme les lentilles et les pois, et lutter contre l’obésité et la dénutrition, la Faculté de gestion Desautels de l’Université McGill a lancé une plateforme qui permet aux entreprises et aux instituts de collaborer afin d’améliorer la valeur nutritive des produits alimentaires.

New Platform Helps Companies and Universities Tackle Obesity through Pulses

MONTREAL, Mar. 10, 2016 – To discover new ways of promoting pulses like lentils and peas to tackle obesity and undernutrition, the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University has launched a platform that enables companies and institutes to work together towards improving the nutrition of food products.

The Global Pulse Innovation Platform (PIP) launches today to boost consumption of protein-rich pulses, a sustainable food product that helps prevent and manage chronic diseases such as diabetes.

#McGill24 set to make its mark

In the TV series 24, the ever-resourceful (and perpetually sleep-deprived) Jack Bauer experienced a truly terrible day once every year, a day during which he would be confronted with a deadly series of threats against the country he was sworn to protect.

Sylvie Bernier: la quête ultime de la pureté

MBA students in Canada tackle sustainability to get a competitive edge

McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management ranked second in the latest list, which was released in October 2015, while the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business was fifth. Those Canadian universities all outranked some big name American schools, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.

The rankings consider the number of core courses that focus on sustainability, the quality of each school’s faculty and the depth of their business sustainability research.

Does CSR create shareholder wealth?

Due to increasing pressures on organisations to behave in socially responsible ways, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming a “must have” component of corporate strategy. This is a good development for the society at large as the massive rate of industrialization in the last century has placed a heightened burden on the limited resources our planet has to offer. However, the primary responsibility of managers of corporations, particularly of the publically owned ones, is not to increase social welfare but to maximize the returns on investments of their shareholders.

Africa: Why It's Time for Business Schools to Radically Rethink the MBA

Employers love business school graduates. That's not just a wild claim: 96% of employers globally polled by the Graduate Management Admission Council in January 2016 said that hiring such graduates creates value for their companies.

But that most-sought-after of business qualifications, the Master of Business Administration (MBA), is not above criticism. It has been accused by some of not meeting the needs of a changing market.

In this tough economic and political climate it's important to question whether business schools should be doing something differently.
