McGill Dobson Cup awards $100,000 to promising start-ups

After three months of mentorship and start-up plan pitches, the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship rewarded over $100,000 in cash and other prizes to the winners of the 2015 McGill Dobson Cup Start-UP Competition.

... We are not the first researchers to make this claim. More than 40 years ago, organizational theorist Henry Mintzberg suggested that information was central to managerial work and that the most important managerial roles revolved around information (monitoring, disseminating and acting as a spokesperson).

Money and politics part 1 - Henry Mintzberg

One hears a lot about balance in politics these days. About finding the right balance between the economy and environmental protections. The right balance between security and civil liberties. The right balance between the rights of victims of crime, and compassion and rehabilitation for the offender. The right balance between tax cuts and government spending, and a balanced budget. It might not take a great deal of cynicism to suggest that after the political calculations have been done, the balance rarely works out to 50-50.

Raised by her single mother and suffering from Polio, she has a deep appreciation for the public services Canada provides. Her background in social work and epidemiology has afforded her a colorful and varied career in education, research and wealth management. She is symbolic of strong female leadership and has left her mark on McGill, and the Canadian higher education system as a whole.
