Tredegar Corporation (NYSE:TG) announced that W. Brook Hamilton (BCom'78) has been named President of the William L. Bonnell Company (“Bonnell”), effective June 1, 2013. Mr. Hamilton, who currently serves as Bonnell’s Director, Business Planning, will succeed Duncan A. Crowdis, who will retire June 1, 2013.

Porter Airlines Inc.’s bid to more than double the reach of its network hinges on winning over governments in Toronto and Ottawa amid potentially fierce opposition from local residents in its hometown.
... “The noise profile of the CSeries is dramatically better than conventional aircraft,” said Karl Moore, a professor of business strategy at Montreal’s McGill University who specializes in the airline industry. “Some people on the island understandably will fight it so it will take persuasion to win them over. There is uncertainty, there’s no question about it.”

Azure Capital Partners, a venture capital firm investing in early-stage information technology and internet companies, announced today the opening of its Canadian office in Calgary, Alberta. Headquartered in San Francisco, Azure has extensive relationships in Silicon Valley, which it has leveraged by investing almost half of its funds outside of the Bay Area across North America over the past thirteen years.

Back in August 2003, Timothy Koller wrote in McKinsey Quarterly an article “Numbers investors can trust”, where he emphasized the importance of “genuine disclosure” of financial information by public companies. It was a call to corporations that wished to regain the trust of investors after the 2000 dot-com collapse. By strange coincidence, that year was marked by a new crisis of sub-prime mortgages, which was again partly related to the lack of proper disclosure of business and financial information.

A paper by professor Robert Hebdon and PhD student Sung Chul Noh has been judged by the reviewers to be one of the best accepted papers in the 2013 Academy of Management Meeting. This high honor entitles the paper to be published in the Best Paper Proceedings of the 2013 Academy of Management Meeting. The paper is titled: "Unbundling Workplace Conflict: Developing A Theory Of Conflict Mobilization."
