The full-time MBA ranking published last month by BusinessWeek brings the 2012 season of media rankings of business schools to a close, and the results will be met with the usual mix of joy, despair and skepticism by the business school community. Staff, students and alumni will be assessing the impact of their school’s standing in the global market, while potential applicants may over-rely on these league tables to determine their shortlist of target schools.

Catherine Awad, senior advisor for MBA career management at the Desautels Faculty of Management, agrees that social media are a crucial part of the job-search process for students and new graduates.

Executive women build lifelong professional bonds through unique MBA networking programs

For six days each spring, a group of 25 senior-level, female business executives  put their demanding roles on hold and sequester themselves at an offsite venue for six days to discuss management trends, develop leadership skills and, most importantly, network.

Good Samaritan restores faith, reimburses stolen Centraide money

You’ve seen this year’s Centraide posters that have fitted ordinary people with stylized angel wings made from the iconic Centraide hand. The slogan simply reads “Donating is uplifting.”

… “It was really wonderful because it was everyone – students, staff and faculty – just reaching into their pockets and giving what they could – five, ten, twenty dollars,” said Celine Junke, Development Officer at Desautels and one of the event’s organizers.

La Chine et l'Inde comptent au total 2,5 milliards d'habitants. Mais si ces deux pays ont en commun d'être très peuplés, la Chine est vieillissante tandis que l'Inde est très jeune. Two very good sports sported white jackets and McGill bow ties to lead a very entertaining video in support of McGill’s Centraide campaign that went up this week. Dean of the Desautels Faculty of Management Peter Todd and Michael Di Grappa, Vice-Principal (Administration and Finance), co-chairs of this year’s Centraide campaign, teamed up with TonalEcstacy, a McGill a capella singing group, for the clip, produced by Jacquie Rourke.
