Meet Dalhousie’s new business dean

Big Data continues as hot curriculum topic

Whether offered as a graduate degree or program specialization, Big Data (interpreting large volumes of information to gain insights for the bottom line) is a growing presence in business school curriculums.

The Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University in Montreal plans to offer a concentration in business analytics for its incoming MBA class this fall, according to a school spokeswoman.

A Desautels BCom student team defeated 116 undergraduate and graduate teams from 45 schools around the world to place 1st at the 2016 PRMIA Risk Management Challenge.

De Washington à Montréal

Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou a pris les rênes de la Faculté de gestion Desautels en septembre dernier

En poste depuis six mois seulement, Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou planche déjà sur un plan stratégique pour la Faculté de gestion Desautels, qu’elle compte déposer au cours de l’été 2016. Pour le construire, elle consulte, à l’interne comme à l’externe, notamment auprès des diplômés. « Toutes les parties prenantes sont importantes dans la mise en place d’un plan stratégique », dit-elle.

New Platform Launched To Help Tackle Obesity Through Pulses

The Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University has launched a platform that enables companies and institutes to work together towards improving the nutrition of food products by discovering new ways of promoting pulses like lentils and peas to tackle obesity and undernutrition.

The Global Pulse Innovation Platform (PIP) aims to boost consumption of protein-rich pulses, a sustainable food product that helps prevent and manage chronic diseases such as diabetes.
