Referring friends and associates for job vacancies can help to create a diverse workforce, a new study from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University finds.

Word-of-mouth recruitment, the most common way to fill jobs, has previously been thought to cause segregation at work: women tend to reach out to other women in their networks, and men do likewise.

William Shatner on acting, music, life & “Star Trek”

It’s not uncommon for a veteran actor to offer sage advice, choice nuggets of wisdom, gleaned from a lifetime of experience. William Shatner, at nearly 85, is not one of those actors.

“What I’ve learned,” said the Canadian-born Shatner, who brings his one-man Broadway show to the Balboa Theatre Thursday, “is that I, primarily, and everybody, in general, knows nothing. I know nothing.”

William Shatner graduated from McGill University in 1952 with a BCom degree.

Five Canadian universities make the Financial Times' MBA rankings. Only one from Quebec: McGill

McGill made it to No. 85, an improvement over last year, when it was No. 100 on the FT Global MBA rankings.

The other four universities that made it this year are:

De betere leiders denken na voordat ze handelen, maar ze zien en grijpen kansen terwijl anderen (nog) afwachten. Niet iedereen is echter een geboren leider, maar ze moeten het wel elke dag laten zien op de werkvloer. Volgens de Amerikaanse onderzoeker, auteur en kunstenares Nancy Adler ligt de sleutel bij meer reflectie, bij voorkeur met een papieren dagboek.
