Changes in how health care is delivered, the absence of significant new money for the foreseeable future, and ageing populations threaten to overwhelm our UK health system if we don't change.
Professor Vedat Verter was awarded the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Leaders Opportunity Fund grant in the amount of $ 146,583 for his project titled “Real Time Location Systems: An Opportunity for Improving Operational Decisions in Acute Care.” With a matching cash contribution from the Quebec government as well as in-kind contributions from vendors, the total project budget amounts to $366,456.

In developing countries, particularly in rural villages and urban slums, people can hardly afford water-purification systems. The consequences are fatal, with infectious diarrhoea causing around 2.2 million deaths every year, most of which are children under the age of five from countries like Kenya and India.
PhD alumnus Abhijit Ghosh's paper, "Embeddedness and the Dynamics of Growth: The Case of Amul Cooperative, India", has been selected for a high profile United Nations Conference on Social and Solidarity Economy hosted by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD). He has presented this paper at the United Nations, Geneva in May 2013.
