Reunion Class Letter
This year marks a most important occasion – the BCom Class of ’81 30th Reunion. Plans are well underway for a Class reunion during McGill’s Homecoming weekend, so please mark your calendar for October 13th - October 16th, 2011.
Wendy Keller, Vicky Tumiotto, Teresa Rochon and I have volunteered to help organize a special event for our Class anniversary.
The following general events will be taking place during McGill's Homcoming Weekend:
Friday, October 14th: Leacock Luncheon
There’s no better way to get into the spirit of Homecoming Weekend than to celebrate the wit of legendary McGill Professor Stephen Leacock (11:30am – 1:30pm).
Desautels Faculty of Management, Dean’s Reception Reconnect with classmates and learn about new development in the Faculty (5:00pm - 6:30pm).
McGill Martlet Dinner McGill University welcomes the all classes from all Faculties celebrating their class anniversaries to a special dinner. A commemorative pin will be presented to each class member (6:30pm onwards).
Saturday, October 15th:
A private event for our BCom '81 30th Class Reunion will be held on the evening of Saturday, October 15th. All suggestions regarding the type of event and/or venue are welcome. We have included a questionnaire and ask that you complete and return it by July 1, 2011. Further details will follow as to the type of event as soon as the questionnaires are returned.
Also, the McGill alumni lists are only as up to date as we as alumni keep them, which means we may not have complete or up-to-date contact details for our entire class, so please circulate this email to anyone with whom you are in touch and let us know so we can add them to the list.
I look forward to hearing from you and getting together in the fall. We had great events 5 years ago and 10 years ago and we're counting on you to help make this one memorable too.
Regards, Regards, Heather Smeall, Wendy Keller, Teresa Rochon, Vicky Tumiotto
Reunion Class Gift
All of you should have received by now your invitation to the Homecoming Weekend from our Homecoming Class Representatives, Heather Smeall, Vicky Tumiotto, Wendy Keller and Teresa Rochon. It should be a great weekend; we hope to see you back in Montreal this fall.
In the 30 years since we graduated with our McGill BCom degree, much has changed at the Faculty of Management. Renamed the Desautels Faculty of Management in 2006, almost 600 students from around the world enter the BCom program every year and the admissions standards are the most stringent in Canada.
In addition to delivering a challenging academic program to the students, there is a renewed focus on the non-academic skills required to build successful and fulfilling careers. Career Services is the department that develops these skills and has the challenge of orienting 2200 BCom students through a 3-year process of career preparation to eventually place them in roles with companies and organizations in their chosen field. As parents of current BCom students, we both know how important this department is to helping students achieve their goals. It is a massive task and one worthy of our support.
In honour of our Class’ 30th Reunion, we would like all of you to join us in supporting Career Services. We have made our pledges, and are asking if you join us by contributing to the BCom ‘81Class Gift to support Careers Services.
This is hopefully just the beginning of a legacy which we can leave to the University which has had such a big impact in our lives.
All contributions to the BCom ‘81 Class Gift are voluntary and McGill will provide you with a receipt for tax purposes. Your donation can be pledged over a period of up to 3 years.
Attached to this letter is detailed information about Career Services and the work they do with the students. If you’d like to know more about Career Services or want more information on how to make a donation, please contact Paul Simard, Development Officer at (514) 398-2609 or paul [dot] simard [at] mcgill [dot] ca
We look forward to seeing you at our 30th Reunion!
