Dr. Chauvin is a specialist in Oral Pathology and is located at the Montreal General Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre. He has appointments in the departments of dentistry and pathology. His research is focused on clinical oral pathology with a special interest in mucosal diseases and disorders. Dr. Chauvin does not direct a research laboratory and is not able to accept the direct supervision of graduate students. If a graduate student is accepted by a supervisor in the faculty of dentistry or medicine, Dr. Chauvin may accept to act as a co-supervisor if a specific project requires his expertise.

In his role as Assistant Dean, Dr. Chauvin assists in matters related to the undergraduate dental curriculum and evaluation, the administration of academic policy and curriculum development for the undergraduate dental programs (DENT-P, DMD). He works to ensure that courses are complete, current, and meet all accreditation standards and that all Faculty and University regulations are followed. He is also the chair of Admissions and responsible for ensuring that the undergraduate program prepares students to become competent dentists who are qualified to take examinations for licensure.
