After Applying

Making changes or cancelling your application

Any change or update to your application information must be submitted in writing to the Admissions Office. Changes in personal information such as addresses or phone numbers can only be done via your Minerva account. Details can be found in the Personal Menu section on Minerva.

An application can be cancelled via your Minerva account.

To expedite the admission process, the Admissions Office required the McGill ID number and the name in all communications pertaining to application files.

Tracking the status of your application

The status of your application can be tracked by logging into Minerva. Log in using your McGill ID and PIN. In the letter of acknowledgement of your application, you will receive your McGill ID number. Your initial Minerva PIN is your date of birth in the format YYMMDD (year, month, day). You will also receive instructions on how to log into Minerva. If you have trouble logging in, call Service Point at 514 398-7878.

Your application can be found under the 'Applicant Menu'.

It is strongly recommended that applicants check their application status on a regular basis, e.g. once a week, as there may be updates or additional requests required as part of the dossier review.

An indication of 'Ready for review' means that your file is complete and under review by the Admissions Committee. Your status will indicate 'Ready for Review' until a final decision is rendered.

Final decisions

Decisions rendered by the Admissions Committee are final and not subject to appeal. Reconsideration is only granted in exceptional cases (e.g. clerical error)

Final decisions are released by electronic mail and confirmed via your Minerva account.

The first offers of admission should be made by early November.

Accepting an offer

Successful applicants must respond to the offer of admission within three business days. Acceptance of an offer must be accompanied by a deposit of $500 CAD which will be applied against tuition fees.

A candidate may be placed on the waitlist if the application is considered admissible but there are no available seats at that particular moment in the process. These candidates will be informed of their position on the list through their Minerva account. Candidates who accept to be placed on the waitlist must be reachable at all times and keep their contact information up-to-date via Minerva.

Deferring admission

An applicant to the DMD Advanced Standing for Foreign Trained Dentists Pathway cannot defer his/her admission.
