$1.6 million CREATE grant to Prof. Jake Barrale for training in orthopaedics

On April 14 2016, a total of $21.4 million in new grants from NSERC’s Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) was announced at a press conference held at McGill’s Bellini Building. Of the total, $1.6 million will go to McGill, to fund a six-year project led by Prof. Jake Barralet, who teaches experimental surgery in the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, and specializes in bioceramic applications within orthopaedics. Graduate student Kelvin I. Afrashtehfar awarded prestigious fellowship from the ITI Foundation

Congratulations to Kelvin I. Afrashtehfar who was recently awarded a one year scholarship from the International Team for Implantology Foundation. He will be an ITI Scholar during the 2016/17 academic year at the University of Bern in Switzerland under the supervision of Drs. Daniel Buser and Urs Braegger.

Dr. McKee appointed to SAB of Soft Bones Canada

Dr. Marc McKee was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of Soft Bones Canada (SBC).

Soft Bones is a community of people and families living with hypophosphatasia (HPP). SBC is dedicated to educating, informing, encouraging and supporting Canadian individuals and their families affected by the rare bone and tooth disease and furthering research and treatment of the disease.
