The research interests of the CRN faculty are focused on cellular and molecular approaches to nervous system function, with particular emphasis on problems relating to neural development, regeneration, genetics, and ion channels. This research involves a wide range of methodologies from molecular genetics to classical neuroanatomical and electrophysiological techniques. In addition, the program draws upon a wealth of expertise in the neurosciences at McGill University and in the Greater Montreal academic community.
Admission to the program is through the Graduate Program in Neurological Sciences of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University or through other departments in which the staff are cross-appointed (Physiology, Biology, or Anatomy). See below for details.
Applying to the CRN
1.
If you are a graduate student and are interested in studying neuroscience and developing technical skills for research, read on for information on how to apply to the Centre for Research in Neuroscience.
The CRN is not an academic entity, which means you must apply to one of McGill's associated programs (Neuroscience, Physiology, Biology, Anatomy, etc). Keep in mind that if you are interested in joining a particular research group at the CRN, you will have to apply under one of the investigator's academic affiliations.
2.
To get information about our study program, we encourage you to follow these steps:
- Read about the research being conducted at the CRN, and find out which areas of research interest you the most. You can browse the research topics by investigator or by academic affiliations.
- The available academic programs in each research group are restricted by the investigator's academic affiliations. To learn more about specific programs and to find out which ones suit you, see:
- Contact our investigators by email. They can respond to any questions regarding their research, program requirements, or about the learning environment at the CRN.
