Jennifer (J.D) Drummond, B.F.A., M.S.W. joined the CRCF in 2011 as a research assistant for the Canadian Mental Health Commission project “Parenting for the Promotion of Adolescent Mental Health”. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a minor in women’s studies from Concordia, and a Masters of Social Work degree from McGill. Her master’s thesis explored embodied identity for queer women with chronic illness. J.D. has been involved in a number of community building and grassroots initiatives. She currently works with Stella, an organization working to end discrimination against, and improve the lives of sex workers.
She also works as a research assistant on the following studies through the McGill School of Social Work and the CSSS Cavendish: “Long-Term Care Home’s Responsiveness to Resident Diversity”, “The Impact of Caregiving on the Expression of Sexuality and Intimacy Among Spousal/Partner Caregivers” and “Caregivers in the Healthcare Workplace: Impacts, Challenges and Policy Change”. Her academic areas of interest include women’s health, sexuality, disability, lgbtq identities, intersectionality, embodiment, as well as visual, feminist and narrative methodologies.
