Linda Davies is a Professor in the School of Social Work. Her teaching and research interests centre on psychosocial approaches to clinical practice with a particular focus on psychoanalytic theory for social work. Her publications include topics related to mothering, fathering in social work, and child welfare practices. At the doctoral level of study, Linda Davies teaches qualitative research methods. Her current research, supported by SSHRC, is focused on creating awareness of gender issues as they relate to child welfare, both as experienced by mothers, fathers and children, and in social work practice. She is also collaborating with colleagues from Norway and the U.K. on a study related to use of self in relationship based professions.
