Workshops & Groups

Why group counselling?

Although some people may find the idea of group counselling intimidating, it can be a very valuable experience. By sharing things we have in common, we counter feelings of isolation and share skills and resources for coping. Groups offer a mirror through which we can better understand our actions and feelings by seeing them reflected in others. We benefit by understanding and having compassion for others facing similar obstacles to ourselves, and we can learn, share, and try out new ideas together.

Most workshops are free of charge to McGill students. Any exceptions are clearly indicated in the workshop descriptions.

Types of group counselling

Types of group counselling include single session and multiple session workshops - which range in focus from academic difficulties to life-skills - and ongoing support or therapy groups, which are aimed at specific types of students. Regardless of type, Registration is required.
