Project Portfolio Management – Design and Analysis

Organizations often suffer from a disconnect between their strategic plans, developed at the executive level, and their real projects, executed at the middle managers level. The link between the two management levels is the project portfolio, the mix of all projects carried out by the organization. Translating the strategic plan into portfolio parameters that are later built into the entire set of projects carried out by the organization ensures the continuity between the organizational vision and the concrete steps to attain it. Managers, especially middle managers, need to be aware and well-equipped to translate the strategic objectives defined by senior management into concrete projects that add value to the organization and ensure that it eventually reaches it.

This Workshop will help managers to translate the strategic objectives of the organization into concrete portfolio parameters and evaluation scorecards that can be applied to prioritize, consolidate and manage the organization’s entire set of projects in alignment with the strategic vision.

Dr. Michael Kamel, PEng, PMP, PhD

Dr. Michael Kamel is the Director of corporate strategy at Bombardier Aerospace. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from McGill University as well as a Master’s and PhD in Technology & Innovation Management from Ecole Polytechnique. His research and expertise are primarily focused on the areas of product innovation in complex industries. He has also worked extensively in the areas of project management and non-profit organizations management.

He is the past chairman of PMI®-Montreal, the Chairman of the Canadian Advisory Committee for the project management ISO standard and a past board member of the Consulting division of the Academy of Management.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellation & substitution requests must be made in writing. The following Cancellation Policy applies:

Up to 14 days prior to the start date: Full refund
7 days prior to the start date: Refund minus $100 Cancellation fee
Within 7 days of the start date: No Refund, however suitable participation substitution will be permitted

If no notice is given prior to the start of the event(s) and you fail to attend, you will be liable for the full course fee.

McGill SCS reserves the right to cancel an event up to 5 days prior to its start.
