Program Description

The intensive Certificate of Proficiency in English – Language and Culture is made up of three main levels (elementary, intermediate and advanced) and comprises eight courses.
Two 6-week sessions are offered per semester. Students can complete two courses with a one-week break in a single academic semester.
Please note:
This intensive Certificate of Proficiency program is a non-credit program and courses are non-credit courses.
The program features:

  • 25 contact hours per week (Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 3:30 PM)
  • 2 highly qualified instructors per class
  • Various contact hours with conversation partners/facilitators which include frequent cultural activities and interaction with native speakers
  • Unique pronunciation clinic after regular class hours

All students accepted to the intensive Certificate of Proficiency programs are required to take a Placement Test. The purpose of this test is to assess your level of language proficiency. For complete information on the test, please see the Apply section.

CEGL 355 (a unique course which strengthens and expands your language skills before you enter the Advanced Level)

Once you complete the Advanced courses with a grade of 65% (B-) or higher, you will qualify for the Certificate of Proficiency in English – Language and Culture. While you must succeed in both courses to attain the Certificate, you can take them in any order.
