The Certificate of Proficiency in English – Language and Culture program offers you the teaching and learning support you need to reach your goals of studying, working and living in English. This full-time intensive program has provided thousands of students from over 60 countries with an exceptional educational experience that features frequent contact with native speakers and the anglophone community. It can also serve as a gateway to academic studies at McGill.
Students interested in the program can be confident that the Certificate of Proficiency in English – Language and Culture:
- indicates an advanced level of fluency in English and an in-depth understanding of culture in the English-speaking world
- is accepted by McGill as meeting the English language requirements at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- is in line with the international benchmarks such as the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
After completing this certificate program, you will be able to handle complex exchanges in English, produce written texts for academic and professional purposes, and execute listening and reading tasks with native speaker-like competence.
