Intensive Professional Development for English Language Teachers (IPDELT) is a two-week, innovative, limited-enrolment, professional development course for ESL/EFL teachers whose native language is not English. Offered through McGill University’s School of Continuing Studies, IPDELT participants will take a critical look at theoretical perspectives, best practices and current trends in ESL/EFL instruction.
The IPDELT program is intended for experienced ESL/EFL teachers and aims at helping them enhance their pedagogical skills so as to meet the challenges of the contemporary language classroom. It addresses the demands placed on ESL/EFL teachers in today’s globalized world, and covers a wide range of themes such as best pedagogical practices, classroom management, technology in the language classroom, the role of culture in language teaching, and cooperative learning among others.

The fees for the Intensive Professional Development for English Language Teachers for Summer 2012 have been set at $1,195 CAN (excluding accomodation and meals). This amount includes:

You can register to the Intensive Professional Development for English Language Teachers (IPDELT) by downloading, printing, and completing the following Registration and Permanent Code Data forms:

The following must accompany your registration documents:
- A copy of your valid passport;
- Program Fees
Fees can be paid by wire transfer or a mailed money order payable to McGill University, School of Continuing Studies, in Canadian funds.

We suggest you courier your complete registration file to us in order to allow you track your mailing.
Please bear in mind that you will also have to enquire about visa regulations and processing time at the Canadian Embassy or Consulate located in your region. Go to the Immigration Canada web site to check the nearest visa office in your area.
IMPORTANT: We advise you to start the registration procedure with us and your nearest Canadian embassy/consulate well in advance. McGill University does not issue any immigration documents.
As soon as we receive the program fees and all required registration documents, an official confirmation of registration (Letter of Invitation) will be sent to you.
Payment policy
The Program Fees are $1, 195 and include tuition, course material, pedagogical and socio-cultural activities, welcome and farewell receptions, and mandatory Blue Cross Insurance. The Program Fees exclude accommodation and meals.
Payment Due Date
Proof of payment must be received in full at the time of registration.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel your registration, we must receive a written request 6 weeks prior to the beginning of your session, 50% of the program fees will be refunded. This refund will be issued within 4-6 weeks.
A qualified substitute may also take the place of the registered candidate. This substitute must be an ESL teacher at the senior high school, college or university level, and must be able to replace the registered candidate in one of the two sessions offered.
For late cancellation requests, the program fees will not be refunded.
