Program Modules

Module 1 - Introduction to Quality

This module lays a foundation in the principles of quality and quality assurance including
instructor led discussions on the history and development of quality systems, as well as the cost
of a quality system and assessment procedures.
 
Concepts covered include:
·         What is  “quality”?
·         Cost of quality
·         Assessing “quality”

Module 2 - Statistical Quality Control, Quality Control and Quality Assurance

Statistical Quality Control (SQC) uses statistical methods in order to monitor and control a “process”.
Monitoring and controlling the process ensures that it operates at its full potential. At its full
potential, the process makes as much conforming product as possible, with a minimum (if not
an elimination) of waste. SQC can be applied to any process where the "conforming product"
(product meeting specifications) output can be measured.
 
Key tools and concepts covered include:
·         “Statistical Process Quality”
·         Basic statistical process control strategies
·         Management of quality
·         Quality Control
·         Quality Assurance
·         Compare SQC, QC and QA

Module 3 - The Quality Processes

This module provides an analysis of the process to achieve “quality” and what that means to
the organization or manufacturing platform. Instructor led discussions on various quality
standards, will be followed by in class working groups as well as individual homework
assignments on the following process components and elements.
 
Topics covered include:
·         Quality standards
·         Differences between process and procedures
·         Effective and appropriate policy
·         Effective processes and procedures
·         Processes used for the management of quality

Module 4 - Auditing Part 1

Modules 4 through 6 address the important role of “audits” to measure the established
performance standards. The modules address the responsibilities of the auditor, the
development of the audit program and tools, the performance of the audit and the preparation of
an audit report or findings.
 
This module will focus on:
·         Responsibilities of the auditor
·         Audit preparation

Module 5 - Auditing Part 2

Modules 4 through 6 address the important role of “audits” to measure the established
performance standards. The modules address the responsibilities of the auditor, the
development of the audit program and tools, the performance of the audit and the preparation of
an audit report or findings.
 
This module will focus on:
·         Development of the audit program and tools
·         Application of audit principals

Module 6 - Auditing Part 3

Modules 4 through 6 address the important role of “audits” to measure the established
performance standards. The modules address the responsibilities of the auditor, the
development of the audit program and tools, the performance of the audit and the preparation of an audit report or findings.
 
This module will focus on:
·         Performance of the audit
·         Preparing an audit report or findings

Module 7 - Quality Improvement Manager

This module will focus on the components and elements that comprise a “quality” system that
a typical quality manager must manage.
 
Topics covered include:
·         Quality improvement roles
·         Quality management process
·         Development and management of an audit plan
·         Management of applicable policies and procedures
·         Management of compliance and non-compliance events
·         Assess corrective and preventative actions
·         Coaching of  operational personnel in the development and implementation of CAPs
·         Management of records and documents
·         Management of QA performance and conformance

Module 8 - Human Factors Awareness

The final module will include a workshop on human factors issues that exist in any organization and strategies to successfully engage organizations and individuals in regards to quality issues.
Participants will be expected to complete the CCAA online Human Factors course prior to the class. There will also be an opportunity for a course review, to ensure participants have the
knowledge and confidence to implement or apply what they have learned within their own organization.
 
This module will focus on:
·         Development of awareness of human factors issues in industry.

A voluntary exam will be offered on the final afternoon for those participants who wish to pursue CCAA certification as a Quality Assurance Manager, or Quality Systems Auditor.
