Najat Sebti earned a Ph.D. in English in 1992 from the University of Massachusetts/ Amherst (USA) for which she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship from 1987 to 1991. She also holds a 3rd Cycle Doctorate (1982-Honors), a D.E.A.(Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies-1979), an M.A. (Maîtrise-1978) and a B.A. (Licence-1976)from the University of Aix-en-Provence (France). From 1982 to 2007, Najat Sebti taught graduate and post-graduate language, civilisation, and literature courses at Mohammed V University/Rabat (Morocco) where she also supervised various doctoral theses and contributed in the setting up and teaching of the first Women's Studies program (doctoral level) in Morocco. She participated in many exchange programs with British and American universities and lectured at the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee in Spring 1996. Newly arrived in Montreal, she is presently teaching the Precis Writing course for Translation & Written Communication at McGill's School of Continuing Studies.
