Career and Professional Development
Dr. Amar Sabih finished his Ph.D. studies at McGill University in 2007 in the area of material failure analysis, prediction and modeling. He started working as course lecture in Career and Professional Development in 2007. In September 2010, Dr. Sabih joined the academic staff of the Department of Mechanical Engineering as Associate Director of the Mechanical Laboratories in addition to his work as researcher in Comminution Dynamics Lab Group where he is focusing on material wear in mining applications.
His recent research topics are in the field of performing metallurgical and failure analysis investigation of media and liners wear. Moreover, he is conducting experimental study on media and liners wear with the objective of improving the steel quality and the manufacturing process of these media and liners. Also he is working on identifying the acoustic characterization of grinding mills. Dr. Sabih has a multidisciplinary research, industrial and academic expertise gained over more than 25 year.
For his findings in the field of failure analysis and arranging and chairing many conference sessions in this field, Dr Sabih was selected as one of 25 members of the international failure analysis committee (ASM international). He published large number of papers and technical reports in international peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Moreover, he is a reviewer in many international journals in the field of failure analysis and prevention, finite element simulation and material characterization
In addition to his engineering and research experience, Dr. Sabih has international academic experience. He taught more than 15 engineering and management courses including 7 different courses at McGill University in the last 5 years.
