André Durocher joined the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal in 1987, after having served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for five years. He was Commander of the Media Relations Unit of the Montreal Police for nearly three years. During this time, he handled crisis communications and spokesperson training, as well as giving hundreds of interviews to both print and electronic media. He also had a weekly broadcasting column on both 940 News and Info 690 radio. Currently an Inspector with the Traffic Division of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, he still acts as spokesperson on issues related to this unit. M. Durocher has been a guest speaker on media relations for a number of professional and training organizations (including the Canadian Institute, the Canadian Public Relations Society and the Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec). M. Durocher also has international experience as he served on a United Nations mission in Haiti in 2006-2007, as well as managing a bilateral project between the Canadian Government and the Haitian Government concerning the reform of the Haitian National Police.
