Exam Conflicts and Deferrals

Conflict

If you are unable to write your final examination due to scheduling conflicts, you must submit a Final Examination Conflict Form with supporting documentation at least one month before the start of the final examination period.

Late submissions will not be accepted.

Midterm Examination Conflict

  • Students requesting the rescheduling of a mid-term examination(s) due to a religious, business- related or scheduling conflict must submit the Midterm Examination Conflict Form and any supporting documentation to Client Services at the School of Continuing Studies at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of the scheduled mid-term examination(s).
  • Students who miss a mid-term examination(s) due to medical reasons must complete and submit this form with supporting documentation within two (2) business days of the date of the missed mid-term examination(s).

Deferral of Examinations

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS MUST APPLY FOR DEFERRALS ON MINERVA

Deferred examinations are granted under exceptional circumstances. If you were unable to write your final examination due to health or other justifiable reasons, you must apply for a deferred examination via Minerva. You are then required to submit your supporting documentation (e.g., a medical certificate) to Client Services  no later than ten (10) working days following the date of the examination.

If for some reason you cannot access Minerva you must submit a Request for Deferral of Final Examinations to Client Services with a covering letter and supporting documentation no later than ten (10) working days following the date of the examination.

Please note that you cannot apply for a deferral on Minerva for the Summer session. You must submit a Request for Deferral of Final Examinations form to Client Services.

Deferred examinations with the approval of your department's Director are recorded as an "L" on your transcript. The deferred exam must normally be written at the first available opportunity. If the deferred exam is not written as scheduled, the "L" grade is changed to a "J".

Deferrals for English and French Language programs

Requests for examination deferrals for the English and French Language programs cannot be made using Minerva. Instead, you should use one of the separate request forms below.
