Part-time French Language Placement Test
Upcoming French EPT dates for Summer 2014 registration
March 18, 6:30 - 8:45 p.m.
The placement test takes place in the evening. Once registered you will receive an e-mail confirming your participation, the time and location of the exam. Since the test is written by a large group of students, we ask you to come 20 minutes before the scheduled time. Please bring two pieces of photo ID, a sharp HB pencil, and an eraser.
The test results are available at the time of registration or can be picked up in person two business days after the test. There is a $25 CAD (non refundable) test fee, payable at the time of registration. The test results are valid for one year. Students can only write the test once per session.
Within the first two weeks of the start of classes, the course lecturer confirms the student’s placement or recommends, in certain cases, a course or level transfer. In each case, the final decision for a transfer is made by the course lecturer and the Department.
Please note that course registration is on a first-come first-served basis. Taking the placement test does not guarantee you a space in a course.
Registration for the Entrance Placement Test is mandatory
Students who have no knowledge of French, or a very limited knowledge of the language, do not need to take the placement test. They must sign a waiver (see below) attesting that they have no knowledge of French, or only a very minimal knowledge of it. They will then be registered in a Basic French course (CFRN 102). However, the department has the right to transfer any student to another level if the waiver does not reflect his or her true level.
Signed waivers must be returned to our office as soon as possible to guarantee the student a place in the session.
