Personal Tax Workshop

McGill SCS students and alumni are welcome to attend a free Personal Tax Workshop!

SCS Career Advising and Transition Serivces is pleased to invite you to a workshop that will help guide you through the basics of filing a personal tax return in Quebec. We'll review principal tax changes to the 2014 year and illustrate with several case examples. The session will be given by Helen Law, CPA, CA of Law & Wong SENC accounting firm. 

Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Mathematica software now Free for Students

Mathematica, from Wolfram Research, is a powerful computational software used for mathematical modeling and data visualization.  McGill IT Services has been providing Mathematica to Faculty & Staff, and in computer labs across the University for the past few years.  Now it is also available to students via the McGill Software site (www.mcgill.ca/software).

Colloquium: Translation Studies and Geopolitics

688 Sherbrooke St. W. has closed due to a power outage

688 Sherbrooke St. West has closed due to a power outage. All classes scheduled to take place at 688 Sherbrooke have been cancelled for the rest of the day, with one exception.

Please note that CIAM 524: Airline Management, section 771 CRN14918, scheduled to take place from 6 to 9 p.m., will take place in Adams Building room G01, event #E6843. CIAM 524 students may contact their instructor.

Update: Power back on at 688 Sherbrooke

Classes and other University operations will resume as normal on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at 688 Sherbrooke St. W., after an electrical problem forced the building to be closed Wednesday afternoon and evening.

All systems were back on Wednesday night after the electrical problem was repaired earlier in the evening.

Leading the charge toward sustainability

Professor Jeffrey Bergthorson in the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been named the first Panda Faculty Scholar in Sustainable Engineering and Design at the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED). Also recently appointed Associate Director of TISED, Prof Bergthorson began a 3-year term in both roles on January 1, 2015.
