Global Change Leaders: Certificate Program for Emerging Women Leaders

A scholarship is available in 2014 for one emerging woman leader from a First Nations, Métis or Inuit community in Canada to take part in the Global Change Leaders program, along with other women leaders working on development issues around the world.

Students completing the Graduate Diploma in Translation (GDIT) must sit a comprehensive examination at the conclusion of the GDIT Program.  The examination consists of an oral defense of a best-work portfolio.  This portfolio represents a record of progress made by the candidate throughout his/her studies.  Each candidate prepares a written introduction and comments on selected examples of coursework with a view to demonstrating his/her progress toward greater translation competence.

In the first half of the session the leader will explain the basics of scanning and equipment used for this purpose. In the second half of the session the participants will have the opportunity to scan some of their own material. It is expected that the participants will bring in a few of their own samples for scanning and one USB Stick (max. 4GB).

By visualizing historical knowledge, maps help us to recognize patterns and to better understand the underlying processes at work. The workshop is for people who want to create their own maps. The workshop leader will demonstrate the necessary steps to create and distribute digital maps with the free and widely available Google Maps & Google Earth.

Biking tour along the St. Lawrence River and the Lachine Canal, starts at Verdun Auditorium. We will take a safe route through Verdun, Lasalle and Lachine, then return along the Lachine Canal towards the Atwater Market and even Montreal harbour if energy is still there! Planning is important and you will be given appropriate information before departure.

Our experience of May 2013 has shown that you do not need to be an athlete to climb Mont Saint-Hilaire. This McGill property combines an enjoyable experience and a nice view of the surrounding environment. Detailed information and directions will be sent to participants before the event (Autoroute 30 is a good option for West Islanders). Possibility of car sharing.
