Simulations are amongst the evaluation methods that lead to highest levels of predictive validity in staffing. Yet, because of the perceived challenges and myths associated with simulations, staffing professionals often revert to the much less effective and efficient interview technique to evaluate candidates’ competencies. The purpose of this Workshop is to dispel myths and faulty perceptions related to simulations and train staffing professionals on how to develop and implement scientifically sound simulations for the purpose of evaluating candidates’ competencies.

Course Description
Participants learn how to develop valid and reliable simulations and how to use them to evaluate candidates’ competencies. Topics include: the validity and reliability of simulations as evaluation methods; techniques to develop effective and efficient simulations; measurement and scoring; communicating with and preparing candidates and panel members for simulations.
* Registered participants are asked to bring job descriptions and/or competency profiles associated with positions for which they have had to or are currently evaluating candidates. Fictitious ones will be provided for participants who do not bring this material.
Objectives
At the end of this Workshop the participants will be able to:
- Develop effective, valid, reliable and efficient simulations for staffing purposes
- Implement simulations to evaluate candidates’ competencies
- Develop and implement tools to measure and score competencies through simulations
- Prepare candidates and panel members for simulations.
