Innovation is a major pre-occupation and competitive advantage of organizations in today’s knowledge economy. Particularly in western countries where manufacturing and production is decreasingly in-sourced, continuous innovation and new product development is critical for organizations to maintain their competitiveness and viability in the global markets. Managers need a good understanding of what innovation is, how to build innovative cultures in their organizations and how to capture value from innovation.

Course Description
This Workshop will define innovation; introduce strategies to favour innovation in organizations and build innovative culture. The Workshop is designed to equip participants with different tools for capturing value from innovation, as well as monitoring and measuring performance of innovation systems.
Objectives
At the end of this Workshop the participants will be able to:
- Understand what innovation is and how it differs from other similar concepts such as novelty or creativity
- Develop strategies for building an innovation culture
- Institutionalizing innovation through multi-layered organizational systems
- Measuring performance of innovation systems in organizations

Lecturer
Dr. Michael Kamel, PEng, PMP, PhD
Dr. Michael Kamel is the Director of corporate strategy at Bombardier Aerospace. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from McGill University as well as a Master’s and PhD in Technology & Innovation Management from Ecole Polytechnique. His research and expertise are primarily focused on the areas of product innovation in complex industries. He has also worked extensively in the areas of project management and non-profit organizations management. He is the past chairman of PMI-Montreal, the Chairman of the Canadian Advisory Committee for the project management ISO standard and a past board member of the Consulting division of the Academy of Management. Dr. Kamel sits on the board of directors of Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC).

Up to 14 days prior to the start date: Full refund
7 days prior to the start date: Refund minus $100 Cancellation fee
Within 7 days of the start date: No Refund, however suitable participation substitution will be permitted
If no notice is given prior to the start of the event(s) and you fail to attend, you will be liable for the full course fee.
