Placement Test

All students must pass the Entrance Placement Test (EPT) in order to start in the program. The test results permit an accurate evaluation of a student’s English or French proficiency and determine the student’s level in the program structure. The test is approximately two hours and it consists of four (4) different sections:

  1. Oral comprehension;
  2. Grammar;
  3. Vocabulary;
  4. Written comprehension.

Upcoming English EPT dates (tests are in the evening)
July 4, 6:30-8:30 pm - Fall 2012 session

The placement test takes place in the evening. Once registered you will receive an e-mail confirming your participation, the time and location of the exam. Since the test is written by a large group of students, we ask you to come 20 minutes before the scheduled time. Please bring two pieces of photo ID, a sharp HB pencil, and an eraser.

The test results are available at the time of registration or can be picked up in person two business days after the test. There is a $25 CAD (non refundable) test fee, payable at the time of registration. The test results are valid for one year. Students can only write the test once per session.

Within the first two weeks of the start of classes, the course lecturer confirms the student’s placement or recommends, in certain cases, a course or level transfer. In each case, the final decision for a transfer is made by the course lecturer and the Department.

Please note that course registration is on a first-come first-served basis. Taking the placement test does not guarantee you a space in a course.

Registration for the Entrance Placement Test (EPT) is mandatory
