For 17 years, McGill University has been hosting undergraduate students from universities worldwide for Immersion Summer Programs. This year we, at McGill’s School of Continuing Studies, are proud to offer an Immersion Summer Program for Latin-American Students (ISPLAS) in either English or French.
The ISPLAS is specifically designed for Latin American students who have some knowledge of English or French and who want to improve their listening comprehension, oral communication, and pronunciation. In this immersion program students are in contact with native speakers and practice their English or French around the clock.
While at McGill, students will have the chance not only to improve their English or French language skills, but also to learn about the Canadian and Quebecois cultures. They will participate in socio-cultural pedagogical activities both in the classroom and in the community. They will attend classes in the morning and participate in language workshops and cultural activities in the afternoons. Native English-speaking or native French-speaking monitors will accompany the students on various social and cultural activities that follow each day's academic work. Thanks to the variety of in-class and out-of-class pedagogical activities, by the time the program is finished, students are much more confident in their ability to communicate in either English or French.
The fees for the English or French Immersion Summer Program for Latin American Students (ISPLAS) for Summer 2012 have been set at $3, 985 CAD. This amount includes:
• Tuition and program fees
• Course material
• Pedagogical, socio-cultural, and extracurricular activities
• Out-of-town excursion
• Welcome and farewell receptions
• Accommodations at a McGill Residence including three meals a day
• Mandatory Blue Cross Insurance
The classes will begin on July 9 and end on July 27, 2012.
Arrival date of students is July 8 and departure is July 28, 2012.

The applicant for the English or French Immersion Summer Program for Latin American Students (ISPLAS) must be at least 18 years old.

Fees can be paid by wire transfer or a mailed money order payable to McGill University, School of Continuing Studies, in Canadian funds.

We suggest you courier your complete registration file to us in order to allow you to track your mailing.
Please bear in mind that you will also have to enquire about visa regulations and processing time at the Canadian Embassy or Consulate located in your region. Go to the Immigration Canada web site to check the nearest visa office in your area.
IMPORTANT: We advise you to start the registration procedure with us and your nearest Canadian embassy/consulate well in advance. McGill University does not issue any immigration documents.
As soon as we receive the program fees and all required registration documents, an official confirmation of registration (Letter of Invitation) will be sent to you.
Payment policy
The Program Fees are $3,985 CAD and include tuition; course material; pedagogical, socio-cultural, and extracurricular activities; out-of-town excursion; welcome and farewell receptions; accommodations at a McGill Residence including three meals a day; mandatory Blue Cross Insurance.
Payment Due Date
Proof of full payment must be received at the time of registration.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel your registration, we must receive a written request.
If you have to cancel your registration
- between May 31st and June 22, 2012 a cancellation fee of $ 350 CAD will be charged
- between June 23 and July 9, 2012 a cancellation fee of $ 1200 CAD will be charged.
Cancellation fees, if applicable, will be deducted from your program fee refund.
A refund will be issued within 4-6 weeks following the cancellation request.
Programa de Verano de Inmersión para Estudiantes Latinoamericanos (ISPLAS) en Inglés o Francés
Desde hace diecisiete años, la Universidad McGill ha estado recibiendo estudiantes provenientes de universidades de diversos países para cursar programas de verano de inmersión en idiomas. Este año, la Escuela de Educación Continua de la Universidad McGill se enorgullece en ofrecer un Programa de Verano de Inmersión para Estudiantes Latinoamericanos (ISPLAS) en Inglés o Francés. Este programa ha sido concebido específicamente para estudiantes latinoamericanos con conocimientos previos de inglés o francés que deseen mejorar su pronunciación y su comprensión y expresión oral.
En este programa de inmersión, los alumnos podrán practicar todo el día con hablantes cuya lengua materna es el inglés o el francés. Durante su estadía en esta universidad, no solo podrán mejorar sus conocimientos del inglés o francés, sino que también tendrán la oportunidad de conocer la cultura quebequense y la canadiense. Así mismo, podrán participar en actividades pedagógicas socioculturales tanto en el aula de clase como fuera de ella. Asistirán a clase durante mañana, mientras que por la tarde se realizarán talleres de lengua y otras actividades culturales; monitores de habla inglesa o francesa supervisarán a los estudiantes durante las actividades sociales y culturales que tendrán lugar después de las actividades académicas diarias. Al terminar el programa, habrán adquirido las habilidades necesarias para comunicarse con seguridad en inglés o francés gracias a las diversas actividades académicas y extracurriculares del programa.

ISPLAS: INFORMACIÓN GENERAL
El costo del Programa de Verano de Inmersión para Estudiantes Latinoamericanos (ISPLAS) en Inglés o Francés para el año 2012 es de 3 985 CAD (dólares canadienses) e incluye lo siguiente:
• inscripción en el curso;
• materiales didácticos;
• actividades pedagógicas, socioculturales y extracurriculares;
• excursiones;
• recepciones de bienvenida y de despedida;
• hospedaje en las residencias de la Universidad McGill con tres comidas diarias;
• seguro médico obligatorio Blue Cross
• 8 de julio del 2012 (llegada) y 28 de julio del 2012 (partida).
