Mhairi Thomson-Tessier String Festival
THE 2013 FESTIVAL EDITION IS CANCELLED. We're sorry for any inconvenience that this may create.
Mhairi Thomson-Tessier, a native of Scotland, studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester before coming to Montreal to study at McGill University. Mhairi joined the McGill Conservatory staff as Cello Instructor in September 1993. She also served as Concert Coordinator and Chamber Music Ensemble Coach for the Conservatory. In addition to her Conservatory duties, Mhairi was actively involved in Montreal's musical community; she participated in many summer festivals including the Banff Centre for the Arts, and chamber music courses in both England and Italy. She frequently appeared with Les Violons du Roy, Orchestre Baroque de Montréal and she was a former Principal Cellist with the New Brunswick and Kingston Symphonies and Ensemble Sinfonia de Montréal. Mhairi had a great passion for life which was evident in her performing and teaching careers. Mhairi was devoted to her students, and spent her time with us promoting the quality of music education in Montreal.
