Did you ever wonder what was going on in the control room of a theater? Or what the technicians say to each other from the control room to the wings? Did you ever wonder what all the buttons were for on a console? Well, you can find all the answers to your questions in the Sound and Lighting Camp “Live”! Are you between 13 and 17 years old and hold a passion for technique? If so, this camp will answer to all your desires!
In order to be ready to take control of a real shows’ technique, periods of studio exploration will be supervised by an experienced technician and will be allocated every camp day. Those enthralled by sound and lighting will be invited to learn more about the technical world with workshops such as “Sound and Lighting Tips,” “Studio Exploration” and “Practical Technique.”
Workshop:
“Sound and Lighting Tips”
Once a day, the workshop “Sound and Lighting Tips” will answer several questions concerning the technical world of sound and lighting. The following aspects will be explored in this workshop: how to manage the technical requests of authors, directors and artists, the various schools for scenography and theatrical production, and the professional and amateur world of sound and lighting. The purpose of this workshop will be to provide deeper knowledge of this domain to our young technicians.
“Studio Exploration”
The workshop “Studio Exploration” will make it possible for the future technicians to explore and discover a control room and its contents, as for the various types of consoles for lights and sound. They will also visit different control rooms in several theaters or auditoriums. This activity will familiarize the campers with the material that professional technicians use.
“Practical Technique”
The workshop “Practical Technique” will offer the trainee technicians the opportunity to use all of the material that they will have discovered in the workshop “Studio Exploration”. Every day, they will have to create playful light effects or produce eccentric sound effects while using distinct consoles in various control rooms! What a challenge! The workshop “Practical Technique” will also initiate the campers to scenography. They will live through all the processes of making a set design, from the orders of the director to the final creation of the set. Phew, what a charged schedule! They will end their week of training with the complete technical responsibility for a show from the Specialized Camps. Besides being responsible for the technique, sound and lighting of a Specialized Camp show, the future technicians will have to design the set of this representation.
The trainee technicians will also assist professional technicians for the Garage Band Camp Tour performance.
This camp will enable them to discover, explore and work in various environments. They will thus put to the test what they have learned in only one week. They will truly live a “once in a lifetime” experience!
