The idea of the Tour was born in 2005, at the very beginning of the Garage Band experience. After one summer, we decided to take the chance and go for it! It was a huge hit!
The tour level is for the more advanced musicians in the program. We take good musicians, but also and especially musicians who want to learn more about the music industry and the tour life! You'll have to demonstrate that you're able to be flexible and musically open (even if your favorite bands are heavy metal, you might explore other styles of music too!)
So, what IS the tour? Tour campers will spend 2 weeks of musical preparation in Montreal, with special workshops and activities. On the menu: music industry, media and bands, recording experiments and advanced workshops on stage presence. Our Garage Band Camp instructors help these campers prepare themselves for their first show in Montreal, in front of friends and family. After that, they hop into a tour bus and spend one week away of home!!
Where do they go? Tour campers visit a new QCA-certified summer camp each day and perform a show each night! They perform 5 shows in 5 days! Sometimes the show is indoors, sometimes outdoors! They play for other campers, for camp staff or both! Tour camp bands must be prepared to face the realities of touring musicians.
The trip is more than playing music - it's also a great opportunity for our tour bands to share their experience with campers from other camps! They get the chance to participate in classic sleep-away camp activities like canoeing, hiking, campfires, etc ... Our host camps put us up in style, and so our tour bands are expected to deliver a really sweet concert every night!
The Tour audition is more intensive than the audition for Garage Band Camp.
