Empowering citizens to manage their water supply

Climate change and water quality issues are making municipal development even more complex.  So students in the McGill School of Environment are assisting the Corporation de développement de la rivière Noire (CDRN), located in rural Quebec, in developing new ways to engage citizens in aspects of watershed management.  The students are using Geospatial Web 2.0 (Geoweb) technologies, such as Google My Maps, to support community participation, particularly as tools with which to gather citizen-generated data for use in decision-making and ongoing monitoring.
