Arrival at McGill is a big event — not just for students, but for parents and families of new students as well.
For a comprehensive page with information, resources, services, and notices for new students' parents and families, please visit http://www.mcgill.ca/firstyear/parents
Parents and families of new students may be interested in:
- CL&E's Family Information Sessions where you will learn about the support services that exist for McGill students and get tips on how your role from home can help us support our students. Representatives from Campus Life & Engagement, International Student Services, Health Services and the Parents Association as well as other McGill service units will also be in attendance to answer questions.
- McGill’s Frugal Scholar Money Management Program / Facts about Fees! presentation where representatives from Scholarships & Student Aid and Student Accounts will cover e-billing, guest access, billing dates, and the Minerva menus related to fees, as well as answer any questions you might have.
- The Parents Tent, a one-stop resource centre for everything McGill open the last week of August. It is a place where you can meet representatives from the Parents Association and other new McGill parents; inquire about on-campus services and resources available to your student; find out about other services such as banking, credit cards, cell phone plans and insurance; and get a McGill Parents Handbook which is full of useful information.
- Parents Association, which since 1963 has offered the families of McGill students ways to take part in the life of the University.
New students and their parents and families are always welcome to drop by, email, or call our office if they have any questions or want more information about studying at McGill and/or living in Montreal.
