PLEASE DO...
...indicate instructor unavailability on the Course Constraint form. ...after the November 13th deadline, inform Enrolment Services of any changes to course sections, instructor unavailability, course combinations or anything that will affect the scheduling process.
...indicate course constraints on the Instructor Unavailability forms; only non course unavailability information should be indicated. ...indicate each day of a particular block off on the Instructor Unavailability forms when it is the same each of those days. (For example: don't mark Mon-Thurs 13:30-14:30, please fill out each day 13:30-14:30.)
...indicate both room characteristics of white board and chalk board. All rooms have whiteboards or chalkboards. Where only one is specifically required, indicate either a chalkboard or whiteboard. ...remember: fewer constraints = A better schedule...try to keep the constraints to a minimum. When a high number of constraints must be taken into account in the system, there will be likewise less flexibility, and therefore, there will be greater difficulty in scheduling course sections.
...select slide projector as a room attribute, there are no designated slide projectors in any of the rooms on campus. ...use schedule type "BR" for breakout course sections and "PLB" for prelab course sections.
...pre-assign any room in Banner unless it absolutely needs to go to that room. ...use "no room needed" when (and only when) the course sections does not require any room. For example, a practicum or an internship may not require rooms and would therefore require "no room needed" to be entered. However...if a course section needs to go into the academic unit's own room, don't add "no room needed" because no room will then be assigned to the course section.
...increase maximum enrolment beyond 20% of previous year's actual enrolment without providing the Class Scheduling Team with a reason. ...contact the timetableproject [dot] es [at] mcgill [dot] ca (Class Scheduling Team) if you have any questions regarding the scheduling process.
...block off three days of the week in the Minerva Instructor Unavailability form if any course section they teach has a pattern of 3x1.
