Fees for service - Procedures and Training

Fees for services

Detailed fees are found on the <Fees> tab for each platform.

  • Microscopy: Confocal microscopy, Live-cell imaging, High-throughput imaging
  • Robotics: Cell-based screens, custom assays, plasmid DNA Miniprep, and more !!!
  • 2-D/DiGE: Difference gel electrophoresis, allied fluorescent protein
  • Typhoon scanner: the DiGE facility scanner can be used for non-DiGE application!
  • PEAP: Protein Expression and Antibody Production
  • Data Storage and Analysis: server, workstation and software
  • Genomics: real time PCR usage is free of charge

Policies

All prices are subject to change, to reflect changes in reagent and operation costs.
Facility use is based on a sign-up system, which is also the basis for calculating charges.
Billing will be monthly to a fund indicated by the users or their scientific supervisors. The fund holder will be informed of charges incurred by email, prior to the financial transaction. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to make sure the fund indicated covers the charges.

General Procedures

1- User Registration

2- User Training (Microscopy, 2-D/Dige and Genomics facilities)

  • Access to the instruments of the Microscopy, 2-D/DiGE and Genomics facilities (including microscopes and workstationsTyphoon fluorescence scanner and iCycler RT-PCR engine) is restricted to authorized users who have been trained by core facility staff.
  • Everyone must go through training before a given system can be used.
  • Users are trained, not groups.
  • Users cannot rely on another user to operate CIAN infrastructure.
To get training on the following platforms, fill a trqining request form at the links below:

Microscopy: Training on microscopes and acquisition and analysis softwares.
Typhoon: Basic use of the GE Typhoon scanning laser fluorimeter.

cian [at] mcgill [dot] ca (Contact us) for training on the other aspects of the CIAN:

cian [at] mcgill [dot] ca (DiGE): Basic sample prep, sample labeling, 2-D, Typhoon and DeCyder operating.
cian [at] mcgill [dot] ca (Genomics): Basic use of the iCycler.

3- Proposal submission (Robots/Automation and PEAP facilities)

  • Users planning to use the Robots/Automation or PEAP facilities must cian [at] mcgill [dot] ca (submit a short proposal) describing the general scope of the planned research. Target start and end dates are strongly encouraged.
