Fume Hood

Step 1: When fumehood is not in use, the sash should be down. Any clutter should be avoided (eg. towels, kimwipes)

Step 2: Ensure you have read the fumehood operating instructions. When there is no alarm, the green light on the energy usage panel should be on.

Step 3: As sash is opened, energy usage should increase.

Step 4: If sash is fully opened, energy usage should increase even further.

Step 5: If emergency occurs, alarm will sound. Do not mute the alarm.

Step 6: Pull the sash completely down.

Step 7: Unplug all equipment, if it is safe to do so.

Step 8: Remove gloves and evacuate the laboratory.
