This year, the McGill convocation of the faculty of science highlighted the McGill efforts in Green Chemistry. Paul Anastas, the director of the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering at Yale University, who is well known as the "father of Green Chemistry", received a honorary degree and delivered an inspirational address to the graduating students. Encouraging them to embrass the challenges of the future, he told them: "Change is happening, what we need are change-drivers".
Marvin Corber has carried a secret with him for some 60 years and on Oct. 29, he decided to tell all during the Convocation in which he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from McGill.
“Truth be told, I don’t have an undergraduate degree from McGill,” Corber told the graduating Class of 2014 during his address at Place des Arts.
McGill Principal Emerita Heather Munroe-Blum will be honoured Sunday, Nov. 3, by the University of Ottawa when it confers upon her an honorary degree.
McGill University is pleased to announce two of its recipients for honorary degrees at this spring’s Convocation ceremonies: internationally-acclaimed singing star and humanitarian Nana Mouskouri and Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, co-winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine.
